Harley-Davidson got it’s very humble start when William Harley and Arthur Davidson created the first production motorcycle in 1903. The motorbike was developed in a tiny shed wooden with the name Harley-Davidson Motor company on the front door and had become the racing bike. Harley-Davidson hired their first employee last 1905 when they won the first race. 3 years later, they sold the first motorcycle to the Detroit Police Department and was utilized as a police service. They became productive that they were able to develop a 6 story factory building and started to export their motorcycles to the Japan.
H-D became more popular in 1914 and was called “The Wrecking Crew” when formally signed up with the national racing circuit. Harley-Davidson then started to sell their motorcycles within the Military in 1917.
By 1918 half of all bikes produced were brought off to military for service in World War 1, and Corporal Roy Holtz is considered the first soldier to ride a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle in Germany. H-D became the largest company of motorcycle in 1920. That were there over 2000 dealers in 67 countries globally.
1931 is the year that almost all of Harley’s competitors are gone, with the exception of the Indian Motorcycle Company. Harley-Davidson and Indian are the only two motorcycle companies in America, until 1953.
For the reason that world gets into into World War 2, so does Harley turn back into Military motorcycle generation, and the service school is flipped back to the military motorcycle service school, also known as the Quartermaster School for military mechanics. The Harley-Davidson Motorcycle were hardly reached out by the public during this time.
